A unique experience with the world-famous train!

Along with your visit to Kalavrita Ski Centre, do not miss out on taking a ride on the famous Rack Railway (Odontotos) that connects Diakopto town with the town of Kalavrita.

Its unique route through the gorge of Vouraicos River is one of the most beautiful natural attractions of our country and declared to be the sixth most spectacular railway line in the Balkans.

Smaller rail lines in Europe

Diakopto is 22km away from Kalavrita, the journey takes one hour and the speed of the train is between 30 and 40 km/h but at some places it slows to 6 to 15 km/h.

The slope of the line does not allow the use of a conventional train, so between the rails is placed an axis gear that in combination with a special mechanism, allows the train to rise above the sea level and reach the station of Kalavrita which has an altitude of 750 meters. It is the shorter railway in width lines in Europe (0.75 m).
